Volume I: Poems pp xxvi + 492 + tissue-protected frontis - an engraving of STC on light blue Fabriano Ingres paper. Volume II: Dramatic Works and Appendices pp viii + 496 - 1198. The page edges are untrimmed. Both volumes have a bookplate for the Society of Writers to His Majesty's Signet on the front pastedown enspaper and the word Signet Librqry in ink on the same page. A nice set without dist jackets (as issued?). The Society of Writers to Her Majestyís Signet is a private society of Scottish solicitors, dating back to 1594 and part of the College of Justice. Writers to the Signet originally had special privileges in relation to the drawing up of documents which required to be signeted, but these have since disappeared and the Society is now an independent, non-regulatory association of solicitors. The Society maintains the Category A listed Signet Library. Very Good .
