Most of these have been lost during the ages. Especially in the Northern Netherlands after the iconoclastic fury and the subsequent liquidation of the monasteries. But the uniformization of the liturgy at the Council of Trent caused a great many of these manuscripts to be demolished. The Koninklijke Bibliotheek now has the largest collection in the Netherlands.
